Monica Stroik was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Reston, VA. In 2013, she earned her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in the interdisciplinary program, Mount Royal School of Art. Stroik was a resident studio artist for six years at the Arlington Arts Center in Virginia as well as has held summer painting residencies at The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA and School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York.
Stroik works through the process of series, creating bodies of work that are ignited by ideas. Her paintings often reference the natural organic environment in relationship to a man-made structured environment.
