Nadine Montille

My work is influenced predominantly by my travels and the distinctive cultures I encounter which bleed into a perpetual stream of inspiration. I have lived, worked and travelled to South East Asia, Europe and Australia. Originally from Mauritius, I am overwhelmed by nature and I seek to represent a link
between man and his surroundings.

The forms and colours across my body of work are inspired by the unique tropical traits of the South East Asian region. Guided by foliage, my compositions represent an inherent love for nature as well as a reverence for its vulnerability.

I attempt to forge an intermediary between man, nature, time and space through the composition and juxtaposition of abstract botanical forms. I incorporate paradoxical images bold yet delicate, where the abstract space defines the organic shapes. A personal narrative of the different plants native to the places I travel to.
My thirst to incite curiosity in nature through the use of vivid colours, shapes and textures is an elemental aspect defining my artwork.

2004 Participated in the Annual “Festival Creole” Art Exhibition in Rodrigues Island.
2005 Solo Exhibition: “Evasion Marine” in Rodrigues Island.
2005 Mural Painting with the students of the Citron Donis Sixth Form College, in Rodrigues Island.
2005 Participated in and won a Photography competition entitled “PORTRAITS DE FEMMES”
at the French alliance institute of Rodrigues Island- Mauritius
2006 Participated in the Annual Salon of Rodrigues, “Couleurs de Mai”
2006 Participated in the Exhibition, “Metissage”,in Tamarin, Black River, Mauritius 2008 Private exhibition at Tamarina Golf Estate and Beach Club
2008 Opened, in Mauritius, my own Art Studio and weekly painting workshops
2009 Launched my own website, about Paining and Photography
