Mortimer Robinson

Lives and works in Wales U.K. and studied fine art, illustration and graphic design before graduating and forming his own design company, and latterly painting full time.

Having travelled extensively throughout Europe and encouraged by the Italian master and acclaimed artist Aldo Salvadori, he now paints mainly figurative, landscapes and abstract work depicting the interplay of light, color, form and composition.

“The experience of figurative painting has helped me understand and develop ideas about how human form can visually link a composition to its surroundings rather than just be the focal point.

Whereas experimenting with landscape structures, particularly Welsh landscapes that are so diverse, painting can be real or imaginary, gentle or bold, but most of all inspiring.

Abstract painting remains a constant challenge and the excitement it generates
is difficult to explain with no boundaries or limitations. Abstract artwork seems to call on us to make an immediate aesthetic judgement and that requires honesty –and courage”.
