Oana M. Baković is a contemporary fine art photographer whose work explores our fragile connection with the natural world. Her practice focuses on wild and sometimes endangered flora, natural movement, and fleeting moments shaped by light, weather, and season.
Born in Constanța, Romania, on the Black Sea, to a Croatian father and a Romanian mother, Baković draws on a multicultural background and the landscapes that have shaped her life. Photography began alongside a career in advertising, initially as a way of documenting everyday life, before becoming her main artistic focus in 2020.
Working primarily with handheld flash, ambient light, and motion, she photographs flowers and plants in their natural environments. Her approach avoids staging or arrangement, allowing wind, light, and imperfection to remain part of the image. Through this process, she seeks to translate a personal connection with nature rather than present idealised scenes.
