Biotech grad by education, science writer by passion, graphic designer by chance, and artist by design. A lab-rat fiddling with test tubes and pipettes until her masters, Suneha found her calling in science communication – art, design and the written word. Her work explores the near-endless diversity of the animal kingdom equipped with a brush, a bottle of ink and paper.
Her earliest tryst with sketching dates back to schooling days. Endless conversations with her father about their shared love for animals and drawing diagrams in zoology lab notebooks of her own as well as for numerous classmates. That perhaps unknowingly laid the foundation for the genre of art that she now pursues. Her proximity to jungles of South India and it’s biodiversity works as her perpetual inspiration.
Most of Suneha’s art is monochrome that helps her focus on the detailed features — light, shape and texture — of her subjects without the distraction of colours. She continues to use her science background and minimalist art tools to observe, learn and appreciate the complexities of the natural world.
