Musta Kema Kima

Born in Cyprus and living Berlin's contemporary scenelen as lens-based artist, I challenge the traditional hierarchy of the photographic image. By this practice, light is liberated from its conventional duty to illuminate a subject. Instead, it is the subject.
Whether sourced from the harsh neon of the city or the soft gradients of the natural world, light is sculpted in-camera through the physical choreography of the artist’s body.

The resulting "aesthetic objects" are not merely photographs; they are indexical records of a performance.

These works offer a rare authenticity and a pure, unmediated focus on the medium itself that proves the most profound abstractions are found not in software, but in the physical reality of the optical world.
