For as long as I can remember, painting has been my way of not just looking at the world, but studying it as well. My aim as an artist is to reveal the beauty of nature, the movement of light and shadow, the vibration of air, and the unexpected moments that give a scene its emotional life.

In portraiture, I try to reach beyond likeness and reflect the inner state of the person, creating a quiet dialogue between the subject and the viewer.

My name is Nahum Ilyashimov, and painting has accompanied me for almost my entire life. My artistic path began at the Makhachkala Arts School, where I first learned the discipline of drawing, composition, and classical observation. Later, after a few years of study and practice, I was accepted to the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, an experience that deepened my academic foundation in painting and gave me the tools to explore nature, light, color, and the human figure through my own artistic language.

Over the years, my paintings have entered museum collections in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, as well as private collections across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Alongside this, teaching has become a significant part of my artistic path. More than 600 students...
