Nanci France-Vaz

Nanci France-Vaz is an award winning nationally acclaimed contemporary realist portrait/figurative painter. Her paintings are infused with light and have a life like quality. Nanci’s unique cinematic style incorporates her acting/dance background into her paintings. There is a story behind the figure and face, which evokes a strong human presence in the environment.

The artist received her BFA at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She is a recipient of the John Collins Memorial Award and the Colonel George J Martin Award from the American Artists Professional League. Nanci has exhibited in many group shows which include “Women Painting Women” at the Principle Gallery in Charleston, The National Arts Club, Salmagundi club, Masters Showcase for Huntington’s Petite Gallery, Hersch Fine Art Gallery “Loved and Observed”, and two solo exhibits at The Masters Octave in Keyport, NJ. In 2003, she was selected to be studio assistant to James Childs at the Drawing Academy of the Atlantic. Mr Childs, an Ives Gamell student, was very instrumental cultivating her skills in classical realism and the Boston School of Painting, at the beginning of her career.
