Natalia Laukhina

Natalia Laukhina is a visual artist born in Kazakhstan and currently based in Bali. Her practice combines painting, hand-drawn graphics, bas-relief, and wooden sculpture, with an ongoing exploration of form, texture, materials, and various techniques.

In her work, she explores inner states through metaphor, symbolism, and a dialogue between painting and a detailed graphic language. Her works unfold as symbolic narratives in which images often develop through chains of association: one form transforms into another, creating new visual connections.

Rather than beginning with a predetermined concept, Natalie often starts with a sensation from which an image or symbol emerges. Meaning develops through the process of creation: one form leads to another, and unexpected connections begin to emerge. Detailed graphic patterns play an important role in this process. By drawing within and around individual forms, she uses ornament as a way to focus attention, explore an image, and allow new meanings to surface.

Natalie studied at an art school in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and later continued her secondary fine arts education at CIODS (Center of Arts for Gifted Children of the North), where she received academic art training. She later transitioned to an independent artistic practice, continuing to develop her visual language through experimentation with different materials, forms, and techniques.
