Nayib De La Rosa

Nayib de la Rosa was raised in Acapulco, Guerrero. At 18 years old, he left home to embark on a journey of self discovery and freedom, moving from different states and countries to perform freestyle football on the streets and to compete in tournaments.
Travel led him into environments where he surrounded himself with multidisciplinary artists and communities, reintroducing him to art practices that he had explored in childhood and prompting him to develop his own artistic expressions in charcoal, paint, leather and more.  
In 2016 Nayib moved to San Cristobal de Las Casas where he currently lives and works in his Cuxitali-based studio/home.  
While Nayib resists being categorized by his identity(ies), he says that his lived experiences as an Afro-Mexican male have heightened his abilities to connect with his own feelings of loneliness, love and joy.  His paintings express these sentiments through strong colors, textures and shape.

Self taught artist.
I had a course of science of communication, apprenticeship in leather designs and art direction in art leather chiapas, work and studied with art curator and art promoter Adrian Ibelles in San Cristobal de las casas, Chiapas.
