Neda Sepehr

Neda Sepehr is an Iranian watercolour artist and calligrapher based in Toronto. A graduate in textile design from Alzahra University (1995), she has exhibited in Tehran since the mid-1990s as well as in London, and has taught watercolour and calligraphy classes and workshops since 2016.

Her work blends the fluidity of watercolour with the structured elegance of Persian calligraphy. In her calligraphy pieces, letters are stretched, layered and repeated in ink, watercolour, acrylic and gold until they read as rhythm and movement. In watercolour she paints portraits and places: quiet, character-filled studies of people at work and at rest, and architecture from the blue domes of Isfahan to old European river towns, built up in transparent layers that keep the light of the paper. Throughout, her aim is art that brings a sense of peace: a space to pause, reflect and feel at ease.

In 2024 she took part in the Jeyhan group exhibitions of calligraphy at Tehran’s Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and at Rasoul Mehr Gallery. Her work has been published in Contemporary Persian Art (2017) and Persian Art Review (2013).
