Nick A Demos

Creator of Neosymbolism Nick A Demos started art at a very early age at the Atlanta Artist Center.The images of neosymbolism were first created in a book created in an edition of two in 1988, this illustrated the the first creation of the neosymbolism as image. Nick A Demos began painting the word images on canvas starting in 1998 from the book and the word Neosymbolism was created at that time as a description of this word painting that had emerged. Although the practice of presenting the word painting was accomplished,and monthly since 2002 several works and the word had already been published in Gallery Guide, New York and West Coast. The definition of neosymbolism was finally presented in an half page ad in the New York Gallery Guide September 2004, with the painting "The Artist's Quilt" with the definition and declaration "Neosymbolism Created by the Artist Nick A Demos is the Juxtaposed of Words and letters within Words" .

Nick started art at a very early age at the Atlanta Artist Center in 1954, on land later to become the site of the High Museum of Art. He then attended Georgia State University where he first met Joseph Perrin head of the Art Department, and began studying art shown at the university gallery.Nick received a B.S. in Psychology. Nick then received a graduate degree from the Graduate School of University of Georgia. Nick was mentored under Professor Emeritus Joseph Perrin from Georgia State University School of Art and Design from 1990 to 2002, where he developed the concept of word painting from 1988 into Neo-symbolism. 2005 Director and organizer for the Museum of Neosymbolic Art Inc.2003 Folk Fest: Slotin, One man show at North Atlanta Trade Center, 2002 Grant from Dekalb Council for the Arts to produce and teach the techniques of Neo-symbolism in Art, 2002 Winner of the International God Show: Davis California,1992 Brenau Gala Art show, Judge Leo Castelli,1989 One Man Show at the CNN Center, 1989 Virginia Biennial in Virginia Beach , Virginia: Coastal Exchange II Jubilee Show & Richmond, Virginia

NicK A Demos will be having a one man show at the James H Ankron Gallery:


The Show will be open Feb 1 and run to Feb 28.
The Gallery is open Tues through Saturday 10:00 am to 6:00 PM .



The show will feature some of the most iconic examples of Neo-Symbolic Painting and Neo-Symbolism. Nick and his sister were in the group of the earliest students to attend art class at the Atlanta Artists Center at it’s inception in 1954, and he has gone on to be in the Artists Rights Society of New York where Andy Warhol Pop Art movement, Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keeffe are also represented.
