Nicola Ancona

Art has always fascinated me and since I was a kid I showed a strong creativity and sensitivity.
I loved to draw, sculpt, paint and engage in any creative activity: from comics, sculptures to abstract representations.
For years I worked as a restorer, which gave me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of many artistic techniques and to refine my manual skills.
From 2001 to 2007 I also worked as a Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce.

I have a degree in painting from the Academy of the Fine Arts of Lecce and the Specialization in Restoration of works of art.

While I was studying, in the years 65-70s I participated in competitions and collective painting, reaching important goals, achieving first purchase awards, awards with Golden Plates and Cups in different editions of Sacred Art in Bitonto and in the Province of Bari and thematic exhibitions at regional level. 
In the 80- 84s I executed 7 large altarpieces for the Contemporary Church of the Immaculate in Venosa (PZ), 3 large canvases for the Ceiling of the Matrix Church and 2 altarpieces for the Church of St. Nicholas in Scalea (CS). With the fresco technique, I painted on a large fifth wall of the conference room of the Library in the Convent of the Crucifix in Cosenza. In 1994, for winning a national competition organized by the Ministry of Public Works, I performed 5 great paintings for the furniture in the Chapels and rooms of the District House "S. Nicola" in Lecce.
With intervals in 2001-2003 I exhibited my works with solo shows in Bitonto, Lecce and Milan.
I participated in group exhibitions at the Espo-Arte in Bari and two editions of the Triennale d'Arte Sacra in Lecce.
