Noelle Ione Maline

Noelle Maline is a California-based artist whose work is about documenting transparent things and recording imaginary communication. Being able to see sound and hear shadows. Her work delves into the unseen and untold, translating the static, echoes and sound waves of the past into something that is tangible.

My art explores the stillness where the past lingers and unseen stories reside. These are ‘sound maps’ and ‘ghost portraits’ and ‘portraits of repurposed memories’, creating new narratives from remnants and forgotten histories.

Through mixed media paintings, assemblages and collages these themes are explored. Using paint, ink, old photographs, hand cut-outs, and drawings, alongside found objects, narratives are constructed that bridge the tangible and the intangible.
