Lisa Kenion

My name is Lisa Kenion. I was born in Charlotte, N.C. in 1959. I grew up in Charlotte, and then attended East Carolina University, earning a B.F.A. in 1982. I moved to Ohio in 1982, and in 1983 started graduate school at Kent State University. I earned an M.F.A. in painting in 1987, and included several sculptures in my thesis show, as well as painting.
Soon after earning my M.F.A., i began working as a contractor, casting bronze, at Studio Foundry, a lost wax bronze casting facility. In 1988, three associates and I bought the foundry, and have been casting at and managing the foundry ever since.
The themes in my work are the result of a great love of nature, a keen interest in art and cultural history, and an enduring interest in the intersection of art, science, philosophy and spirit.
