Norbert Engel

Norbert Engel is a French painter, born in Lorraine. He currently practices on the Côte d'Azur and in Alsace. Training at Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (Strasbourg Higher School of Decorative Arts).
His technique ranges from acrylic to digital and photomontages.
His themes : human body, landscapes, nature, still-life, scenes of daily life, atmospheres, writing, symbolism, philosophy.
His means of expression abstraction, conceptual, informal, expressionism, Pop Art, graffiti, monochrome, tachism.
His personality, both energetic and meditative, makes it possible to find both strength and appeasement from his paintings.
For him, a successful artwork has impact, presence and releases emotion.
He paints a lot and in a variety of ways.
His influences : Henri Matisse, Nicolas de Staël, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Bazaine, Egon Schiele, Cy Twombly, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, Roy Liechtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Barnett Newmann, Andy Warhol, David Hockney.
