Early Life and Education
Hajime Okubo was born in 1943, in a world that was still reeling from the aftermath of World War II. He graduated from Shonan High School, where his passion for art began to take shape. Early exposure to various artistic expressions inspired him to pursue a life dedicated to creativity and artistic exploration.
Exhibition History
Okubo's artistic journey began to flourish in the late 1970s when he held his first significant exhibition at the Humboldt Gallery in San Francisco in 1977. This marked the start of his professional career as an artist. The following years saw his work gain recognition, as he exhibited at the A.B. Condon Gallery in Soho, New York City, from 1979 to 1981. This period was crucial for Okubo, as he immersed himself in the vibrant art scene of NYC, further refining his artistic voice.
In 1988, he was invited to participate in the Long Island Artists Exhibition, featuring nine distinguished artists. That same year, he showcased his work at the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art in Roslyn, Long Island, where his art was celebrated for its depth and creativity.
