Olena Borysova was born on December 20, 1982, in Kharkiv, Ukraine. From early childhood, she demonstrated a natural talent for visual arts, actively attending drawing classes and participating in group exhibitions at a young age, where her early works already stood out for their expressive maturity.
Her artistic formation was shaped by distinguished masters, including the painter Hrihory Korobov, Viktor Kovtun — People’s Artist of Ukraine and Chairman of the Kharkiv Union of Artists, and Yuriy Vintayev — Honored Artist of Ukraine.
Currently, Olena Borysova lives and works in Italy, where she continues to develop her personal artistic language, deeply exploring the heritage of the Italian High Renaissance tradition in painting and sculpture, and reinterpreting it within her own creative practice.
She is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the Società delle Belle Arti di Verona (Society of Fine Arts of Verona). Her work has gained international recognition and is held in both public and private collections worldwide.
Her artistic practice often focuses on portraits of aristocrats and historical figures, as well as architectural forms, reflecting a strong connection to classical tradition. She exclusively uses...
After graduating from secondary school in 1998, she was admitted to the Kharkiv Art School, which she completed with excellent results, finishing as an external student in record time and with the highest honors.
She continued her studies at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, following her victory in the national olympiad for young artists, which secured her admission. There, she developed her own artistic direction under the guidance of leading professors.
Her artistic formation was also influenced by established academic mentors within the Ukrainian art tradition.
Olena Borysova’s artworks have been exhibited in Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Israel, the United States, and Australia.
One of her recent projects was the exhibition *“Whispers of Verona”* in Verona, where she presented a series of monochrome works executed using Italian clays in different shades. In these works, viewers naturally reconstruct familiar colors through perception. This effect was especially evident in depictions of the sky: although painted in gray tones, it is perceived as bright blue due to cognitive visual interpretation.
