Olga af Tyske (b. 2004, Kyiv, Ukraine) is a painter, draughtsperson, and poet living and
working in Berlin. Working across oil, drawing, and text, her practice centers on the body —
not as portrait but as site of fracture. She makes bodies, carcasses, organs, and guns: forms
that move between the intimate and the political, holding trauma, desire, aggression, and
survival in the same space.
Her work is shaped by migration and the experience of living within a marginalized community
— those pushed to the edges of social, political, and cultural power, often reduced to fixed
identities such as "refugee," "victim," or "other." She is concerned with what it means to carry
an ongoing, possibly unhealable trauma that resists translation; with how to create when full
understanding is impossible; with existing between places, seen as a traitor by some and
permanently foreign by others.
She has previously exhibited under the name Aláis Reed.
