Ouiame Filali Marzouki

I'm a painter - and an engineer with a PhD in computer science. Two lives I've never tried to reconcile, because the tension between them is exactly where my work begins.
I came to painting during the lockdown years, almost by accident and, what started as escape became a language. Writing had always been with me - poetry has followed me since childhood - and painting felt like the same impulse finding a different body. I learned it on my own, one canvas at a time.
My work lives at the edge between the figurative and the abstract. I'm drawn to thresholds: the moment one thing turns into another. I work mostly in acrylic and watercolor.
I live and work in the south of France.

Self-taught. My training has been hands-on — painting one canvas at a time, deepened through weekend workshops rather than formal art school.
