Dave Ovenden

I am an English Contemporary Abstract Artist living in Germany. Many years ago, I fell in love with art, abstract painting then became what I enjoyed the most and acrylics became my main medium of choice. Abstract art is not like any other style of painting, it really is a complex visual journey and a journey which I love to travel. Getting to that final moment when the painting is truly finished is not only my greatest challenge but also my greatest reward. All my paintings are signed with the name “Ovies” which i was given as a nickname when i served in the British Royal Navy.

I am a self-taught artist who from an early age I had art inside me I just didn't know it until many years later. I was also extremely lucky when growing up to be around a great network of artistic family members. Many who's creative talents lie in very different styles from Stained glass to wool and wood to paint, so really, I didn't have to look very far for my inspiration. I know I will never stop learning and I wouldn't want to as that can only make me a better artist.
