I was born in Germany in the February of 1973. My Dad was just a young doctor and my mother studied languages in Berlin.
I was a creative child. Tinkering with all sorts of things. I loved taking toys apart and i loved drawing. It was from drawing that i got into colors and brushes, making comics and the like. I got really good at drawing and many times i would draw the teacher in class and let others pass the picture around, just to disrupt everything. I got into trouble a lot. At some point i started to experiment with oils, pastels, acrylics and others.
I had no formal training in fine art. My education was firstly in the sciences then in literature. Fine Art was my happy place, a place of pure expression about my view of my environment, a response to the many existential quandaries i had been dealing with in my life. Africa is full of things that would make you question the meaning of existence. To understand the human capability to cope with suffering and attempt to capture this in art.
