As an artist, I love using patterns and intricate color contrasts alongside symbolism, oftentimes encapsulated within broad, simplistic objects recognizable to the viewer. My brain identifies with patterns, and as an artist, I recognize their potential in both an allegorical and aesthetical sense. Patterns are the archetype and the catalyst, through which I interpret my emotions, ideas, and natural observations.
As humans, we are immersed in infinite patterns,
Although overemphasized and highly decorative, the patterns in my work, as well as much of the symbolism, are all based upon direct observation. They are not merely ornamental embellishments, but have a basis in the physical world and, to some extent, establishes a position, a sense of place, and ultimately take on a symbolism of their own.
