As a contemporary artist who questions the mechanical hierarchy that dominates the modern visual environment, I reinterpret fragments of digital images through the language of painting.
My working method of "refocusing" on peripheral elements stems from a habit of zooming in on everyday photographs to explore hidden details. I capture and crop out the microscopic worlds that intrude like "noise" within high-resolution digital data. I magnify fragments excluded from the background by the camera's pre-programmed hierarchy and fix them at the center of a large canvas. This is not mere imitation, but an artistic act of escaping from a conditioned, dehumanizing gaze.
The arduous physical labor involved in this process symbolizes my journey of wandering and dwelling amidst uncertainty to rediscover the inherent human senses. Unlike machines programmed for absolute efficiency, humans often pause at the periphery to embrace the uncertainty of daily life. This "wandering" reflects my creative process of exploring and filtering out the easily overlooked remnants hidden within smoothly retouched digital images.
