I love to draw and paint in nature. I use my sketches as a starting point for abstract landscapes that evoke the feeling of being in nature, where inner and outer worlds meet. As I work in layers, adding and subtracting, the piece changes day by day until it comes together as an inter-connected whole.
My hope is to create an immersive experience that evokes the search for the sublime in the everyday, and of finding transcendence in nature. This is more important than ever today, as we look for solutions toward climate sustainability.
Patricia Crotty studied painting and multimedia at the Sorbonne in Paris, earning graduate degrees in both. Her paintings and mixed-media pieces hover between figurative and abstraction. Her work has been shown in galleries in the Boston area and in New York, Amsterdam, and Paris.
