Patrick Nunziata (b.1992) is a Canadian artist based in Toronto whose work explores mark-making, texture, and the emotional resonance of landscape. Working across painting, sculpture-like surfaces, murals, and wearable art, Nunziata approaches painting as an intuitive and evolving process built through layers of gesture, colour, and material.
Nunziata studied Visual Arts at Western University, completing an Honours Specialization in 2014. His practice moves fluidly between abstraction and representation, often beginning with spontaneous marks that develop into landscapes, figures, or symbolic forms. Thick applications of oil and acrylic, often sealed in glossy resin, create surfaces that feel sculptural and tactile.
Recurring subjects in Nunziata’s work include island landscapes, flowers, animals, and expressive symbolic imagery. His paintings frequently shift between abstraction and figuration, allowing viewers to discover forms emerging from layered colour, energetic lines, and intuitive brushwork.
Beyond the studio, Nunziata’s work extends into public space through murals and into fashion through Beausejour, a Toronto-made art-to-wear line featuring garments and accessories created from his original painted canvases.
