Paweł Batura

I work in oil painting, moving between figuration and abstraction, with a particular affinity for organic abstraction. I am interested in fluid, ambiguous forms that evoke organic structures, hovering at the edge of recognizability.

I am also drawn to Dada and Surrealism, especially in formal terms — in the way the image is constructed, elements are juxtaposed, and composition is approached freely.

I do not adhere to a fixed style. I treat the canvas as a working space where both compositional decisions and the process of painting itself — its rhythm, gesture, and materiality — are important.

My paintings often emerge without a predetermined plan and develop during the process, shaped by the relationships between color, form, and the material of paint.

I graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Warmia and Mazury. I defended my master's thesis and diploma in painting in the studio of professor Stanisław Andrzejewski.
