From my earliest memories I remember an affinity for creating, building and growing 'things'. I had intended to become a potter, that's why I went to art college. But somehow that wasn't a big enough challenge, whereas silversmithing in those days was decidedly 'old fashioned' and needed boosting.
My core approach to art has been "never design what I know how to make" - that way I am not bound by limitations or regulations, rules or pre-conceived ideas of what is possible. These words have inspired me throughout my life to explore new ideas, processes, materials, and ways of doing things and has become part of my entire being. Easy at first to follow such an approach because I knew so little........
