The man in this portrait needs no introduction. This collage was born from the desire to use collage realistically, capturing the subtle gradations in light found in a well-lit subject. I adopted a painterly approach, using small pieces of paper like brush strokes for an impressionistic feel that "fools the eye." Viewers should note how the small shapes of value come together to create a cohesive whole. This art piece is based on a photograph in the public domain taken by Orren Jack Turner in 1947.
