ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Dégringolade means downfall, rapid decline, and deterioration. Using found objects, with this collage is a reminder of how fast things will collapse if we don't take care of our family, friends, community, country, and planet. Be excellent to each other. I'm inspired by the materials that I find, different textural surfaces, forms, and colors might reside in harmony or in discord. I employ painting, printing, drawing, and collage. I adhere to a strict set of rules that any imagery must be up-cycled from the materials I find or repurposed from my own art. These are the challenges and creative instincts that intrigue me most. Acrylic, marker, ink, homemade glue on found schematic coated in epoxy resin.

Film editor Aaron Dunkel, from LVLY in NYC, has always been addicted to the art of image making, photography, and design. From humble beginnings in his parents basement he made a makeshift darkroom and a painting studio, thus began his passion for photography and the arts. Aaron then moved quickly into the field of television with an internship at a local tv station and making music videos for his friend’s high school punk bands. He attended Pratt Institute and graduated with a dual major in photography and film making. After graduation, Aaron jumped right into the field of post-production on commercials. He quickly moved up to be senior editor working with several major advertising agencies. Using all of the experience gained through the years, Aaron returned to his roots of painting and photography. He has been working with his photographs, found objects and painting to visualize loud, vivid colors and textures creating a unique energy to his art. Aaron contributes much of his inspiration to his home-base of Jersey City. His work can be frequently seen at several gallery showings in Jersey City
