About the Artist

Arlette Ruggeberg

United States

I was born in Mexico city, and was raised in Cuernavaca Morelos. Mexico. Growing up I was interested in human behavior and factors that influece people to be the way they are, so I decided to studied psychology. After I was finished with my degree, I moved to Dallas TX and studied pedagogy and began teaching, I did this for a few years but had the opportunity to study art, which I was always interested in. I went to the University of Texas at Arlington, and there I studied painting and fell in love with it. I was done in 2014. I was married soon after and we moved to Houston, TX. Since then I have been contacted by many galleries all around Europe to show my works in prestigious galleries.
My artist statement:
What impacts me is beauty, I'm interested in the essence I perceive in people, and nature. I'm in love with love, art, femeninity and the surreal. I think of the beauty and magic possed by animals, trees and the spiritual world. The artists that inspire me are Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo,Leonor Fini,Sofia Bassi,Frida Khalo and Vincent van Gogh.
