Art is an escape from the confines of the unyielding responsibilities of my vocation. My profession is incredibly rewarding but equally stressful - there is no margin for error, no experimentation, no spontaneity. In my studio, however, experimentation, creativity, and fortuitous accidents are welcome and commonplace. Paint, charcoal, paper, and ink are applied to the canvas, often using only my hands as instruments. The goal of my work is communication, whether it is a portrait of an influential person, a graceful figure, or a provocative word. Each image has something to say, and I take the utmost joy in sharing my work with people who appreciate the message.
