I really wanted to create and feeling of 3D and depth from cutting out lots of strips of paper to create this lady face. I hope the viewer feels calm and peace from this image. I love using wall paper torn and cut to create images by taking advantage of the patterns and color.

Anna was brought up in rural Wales until her early 20's, then moved to London to do her foundation year. After moving to Brighton to do her degree, she embraced the seaside city as her new home and set up studio on the seafront. Here she developed her technique and love for collage. Using old fabric and wallpaper books, she created a language which filled her desire for colour, texture, shape, and form. Using the patterns on fabric and paper she built her own narrative celebrating the diversity of these materials. The main subjects are nature and the human face, "Using fabric and paper instead of paint brings me a whole new spectrum of diversity. I love the way the light catches different materials (especially silk and velvet) giving a tactile feeling and an unusual depth to my pieces."
