About The Artwork
During my first 25 years I visited America almost every year as a child and was influenced by the intense excitement of holiday time, travel and family gatherings. White Christmases, trips to Disneyland, adventures to National Parks and Hollywood formed my formidable framework of reference. America is a land of history, name brands and a nation where every state has a population who are innately unique. It is a land of beautiful landscapes and harsh deserts. Its people are diverse and its landmarks are remarkable and iconic. For the central theme of this artwork I have chosen to spin all of these ideas together by presenting a Marilyn Monroe type woman riding a Harley Davidson through Cadillac Ranch in Texas, right off Route 66. Bold, proud and loud … this is my vision of America.

I am an Australia artist living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a collage artist I am fascinated with the use of color, pattern and texture and try to combine these elements in my work in an innovative and exciting way. My technique is still evolving and employs an exploratory and playful process that can incorporate costuming, set design, photography, graphic manipulation, collage and painting. I also hide images within my paper collages, creating a second level of interest beyond the initial image.
