About The Artwork

This is one of digital character series that have their own story and personality. The cartoons and old vinyl toys are a great source of inspiration for this project. When recasting popular imagery as personas in my collages,I decontextualize, then, I reconstruct.

https://linktr.ee/ENDAM Hi, I am a visual artist, illustrator, and the founder of my design studio ArzuEndam that offers personalized hand-painted textile accessories. I love to use art practices to tell stories. As an artist and a designer I seek new approaches to old challenges; prototyping my ideas in an experimental way. My process starts with a drawing. I love monochrome as well as vibrant colors. I work in a variety of media; watercolor, acrylic, ink, pastel, and collage. I translate some of my drawings into the textile or to any other surface I want to play with. In order to create my digital works and NFT’s, I usually manipulate and rework some of my artworks on the computer. I have created large-scale botanical portraits that I try to reveal all sculptural qualities and textural details, and I believe each of them has its own character and personality. I also make analog and digital collages, juxtaposing unlike forms to create a new whole. I basically decontextualize, then, I reconstruct. When recasting popular imagery as characters in my collages, I draw inspiration from Street Art, Post Modernism, Folk Art patterns, and Abstract Expressionism. Collage Brut: They are fun characters who have their own story. The cartoons and old vinyl toys are a great source of character inspiration for this project. The creative process starts with a couple of rough sketches but it continues in a more experimental way; I identify random objects, bring some geometric shapes, and silhouettes of these ordinary objects digitally together in order to finally get the shape of the character I want to create. Take a step back, see how it goes, make some changes, then I fill in these shapes with some of my drawings and illustrations. I just try to find new ways of creating something with fun, but I also strive to make fun meaningful. I am looking at things around me from different perspectives, exploring different possibilities, reframing, and enjoying the unexpected outcome.
