ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I like to experiment with acrylic paint and this mixed media piece on canvas was a combination of many artistic techniques. First I poured several blue, white and turquoise colors on canvas and then determined that the background reminded me of an underwater seascape. I created a watery garden, complete with plant life, waving ferns, bubbles, fish and a large Galapagos turtle, as my predominant image. If you have ever snorkelled these are the kinds of sea creatures you might be lucky enough to see. I loved my turtle, surrounded by a variety of fish and wanted the viewer to feel wonder and amazement . This is one of my favourite paintings because I love the sea.
