About The Artwork

My work is made by wool ( from sheep and tinted by differents colors or shoades)and silk to create a textile by felting it.The fibers of carded wool, thanks to the reaction of hot water and soap, stand up and overlap each other to create the felt. The material is irreversibly transformed, freezing time in the form, the drawing in the material. This material doesn't need any protection from the dust, and is really able to stand the test of time. Each work is laminated on a solid wooden frame. Felt is an organic material whose physical insulating, heat conducting and protective properties That make us think of a skin. It enjoys a strong presence. My work plays with this physical materiality, kind of spiritual. My work is often thought as a border or a map, then there are spaces, in between, contrasts and boundaries This work is one of the first explorating of this incredible and poetic way to make images. Is it painting? Is it drawing? It evokes more than it does represent, it invites hands as much as eyes exploration.
