ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"King Tupac" is part of the "Recycled Celebrity" series of portraits made from recycled paper. It was a way to turn people's throwaways into unique, valuable objects. It is a very constrictive environment to create, as you cannot choose the materials you work with, you have to adapt to what the papers give you, but it's also a great opportunity to explore your creativity in a closed situation. Very time-consuming, but the results are very special, extremely singular. Sure, some of them might look bizarre at first, I've been told this a few times, but once you spend a bit of time with one and you start noticing the hidden images and messages and story lines it just becomes so much more. There is a lot of inner beauty in this series. *the original does not have the white background and it is mounted in a transparent perspex frame, created and manufactured by the artist. The colour of the wall becomes the background of the artwork, giving the owner the liberty to actively contribute to the creation process.
