This Collection was inspired by a stroll I took through the luscious Kokanee Creek Provincial Park in British Columbia. The Artworks were created from heavily manipulated photographs. I digitally tear a photo apart, experiment with applying various colors, textures and patterns to unify the parts, and reconstruct it into a collage. Three such images are then transparently layered in the style of Chine-Collé. In this process the original photo completely disappears. What evolves is an interpretation of the joyfulness of nature’s ordered chaos, as found in dappled shadows, sparkling backlit canopies, the creek’s rippled surface, and fronds of swaying grass dancing among twiggy branches. Each work tells of a different sort of light, depending on the time of day and the season. The viewer is reminded to seek beautiful places for communing with nature, as often as possible.

As an artist living on a vintage homestead in rural Eastern Washington, Lorie's current corpus speaks of heritage among nature, in both analog and digital art. The question she asks with each new work is, how can this composition maximize the affecting power of colorist, atmospheric, and textural elements drawn from nature. Her digital art experimentally seeks to push perceived digital limits.
