Old Corners + Streets Print

I have a habit of cutting up old paintings of mine when I decide I no longer like them. Rather than waste the aftermath, I like to reassemble the canvas pieces to make something new. Here, I've repurposed pieces of an oil painting to create this abstract collage. I also used cut-up pieces from an old copy of Private Eye, and made a border with lengths of twine. The canvas pieces are painted with oil paint. There are a few little details in this collage that I really enjoy, chiefly the tiny leaf I found and stuck toward the top left corner. There's no particular reason for the two photos chosen (the late Queen and Francis Bacon's 'Study of a Head'), I just liked the way they looked. It's a bit strange and not particularly coherent, but it's a pretty honest reflection of my creative mental state coming into this new year.
