ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Like all my paintings there is usually a poem in the background of its creation. The original sketch is tiny inside one of my poetry books and I simply noticed it one day and I happened to have a pile of old papers and photos I was about to throw away....so I put two and two together to make 5. It is the first artwork I made alongside my daughter...I started it as an exercise in automatic collage whilst she used the same technique to make a set of collage animals...for the space of two months it became my new painting style. There are two others like this but I have not completed them.....it depicts the sun rising in a picture frame but the dimensions of its own reality are disrupted by the framing if it so it seems the watery collage pours out of the frame like a raging sea....I may have been watching The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader movie too....you know the but where the painting of the ship at sea starts pouring into the room....in an abstract way of course!
