About the Artist

Alex Mackenzie

Spain

Born 1963 Chesterfield UK. Living in Spain, previously in Mexico, Myanmar, Italy, Spain, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Venezuela and the UK. Exhibiting and teaching Art since 1988.
I use local materials out of necessity as much as out of interest. I'm trying to create an interesting textural surface that oscillates between the seen and the unseen: pushing forward, pulling back, revealing and concealing various facets and mixed histories. The viewer participates in the process by interpreting the images in their particular ways.

I trained in Visual Arts at Lancaster University and as an art teacher at Goldsmiths College, London, teaching art and design in schools around the world since 1988.
