A vista of a house built of clay with a lonely blue star which has a calm North African feel to it. Lovely pale burnt clay colored pieces from magazines were the first pieces I chose, joined by grey textures and hand painted paper. The collage is mounted on watercolor paper.

Welcome to the lyrical side of art life. I create modern lyrical mixed media collages inspired by nature, music, poetry, and the footprints mankind has left behind. I am a native Dane who transplanted to the cost of Florida in 2000. I connect strongly with nature, the way the light falls, the smells that speak of ocean, forest, soil, and plants. Sights of various landscapes, details of buildings, textures and colors in rooms inspire me to play with imagery of my own. I’m not interested in accurately depicting what I see, I find it more stimulating to convey a mood, an impression of a place, or a state of being. Having been educated as a textile designer, I see patterns and shapes in the things around us. I adore colors and textures, and am fascinated by the endless combinations of compositions that the collage process affords. My images are made from hand painted papers, magazine cut outs, wallpaper samples, found textures and objects, paints, and scraps of various materials. All these components facilitates a creative process where I can explore the world around us and our place in it.
