This mixed media/collage on canvas is part of my series celebrating women as they have been shown in advertisements and photography in the mid 20th century. Working with my collection of old Life Magazines, acrylic markers, and Japanese paper, I designed a painting featuring an elegant woman. The stylized photograph came from a 1945 Life magazine. The collage embellishments are simple and varied , helping move the viewer's eye around the painting.I kept the palette limited to three of my favourite colours: black, white and red. It is a bright, fun piece and is appealing from afar as well as close up. Lots to see if you look closely.
