“The silver apples of the moon, the golden apples of the sun”. W. B. Yeats I present to you here, at Saatchi, my work "Sun" in the author's textile technique. The textile work consists of two parts, "Sun" and "Moon" which can form a diptych but can exist independently. The technique for performing both works is very similar. This is contemporary artwork, but it is also fibre textile art. Stylistically, this diptych creatively appeals to medieval graphic miniatures and tarot cards. The concept is to create the "Luminaries" series. For this work, I made a "sandwich": vintage silk velvet of incredibly deep red colour, bulk slimtex material and natural cotton fabric. After that, I connected these three layers together by hand embroidering with beads, threads and decor (quilting). The work is decorated with large stars made of hand-chased brass, embroidery with glass beads, brass decor, sequins, rhinestones, gold and silver threads. The face of the "Sun" is a textile bas-relief. For it, I used gold jersey and Italian trapunto technique, volumetric embroidery. Then I painted it by hand and used tulle applique for a special effect. At the very end, I placed the finished work of three layers in a volumetric textile border and designed it as a frame for this work. On the reverse side of the work there is a crossbar made of light and durable aluminium with holes for convenient mounting of the work on the wall. It is a drawstring with a wall bar, just like a traditional patchwork quilt. Size 24x19х1.2 inches or 61x49х3 cm. If you want to purchase both parts of the diptych: "The Moon" and "The Sun", then I will make a $ 100 discount for the total amount for two works.
