About The Artwork

Inspired by our times and the language that is being used when describing a woman. There is a number of words that we apply when speaking about women - but we do not use the same vocabulary to describe a man. A man is "strong" and a woman is "bossy" :-)) I love the art in which artists play with words - they give them new meanings, pay attention to the power contained in words or simply emphasize them - my masters are Mel Bochner with his great "BLAH BLAH BLAH", Ed Ruscha, Robert Indiana, Kay Rosen, Jenny Holzer, Bob and Roberta Smith and the great "Maestra" - Barbara Kruger (I shop therefore I am). The shape of a body is cut out of cardboard (painted black and varnished), which was the packaging of very tasty Chinese Moon Cakes. I liked the cookies very much, and the packaging was of such good quality that I decided to use it:- ) So we may call it recycled art, collage, painting or whatever you want :-) The background is in scarlet red color, the letters that form the word "LOVE" are cuts-out and filled with some newspapers cuts-out. The sentences: "She Would Not Be Fearful" and "Are you ready" are newspapers cuts-out. All the words describing women are written with a white acrylic marker and then partially painted with white acrylic paint. When writing these words I came up with the idea, that I have been describing a type of a modern witch :-))), so I decided to add some optimistic cats :-) I drew 8 cats on a black paper and cut them out (8 is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture). When I was finishing, I decided to add my comment to all of that - so I wrote: "The Best" (in the meaning - the best even when perceived as pushy, bossy, etc...:-)) Size: 65x50 cm (19 5/8 x 25 5/8 inch) painted area: 60x46 cm Signed in the bottom right. Painted on Canson 290 g/m2, (140 Ibs) (thick) paper with linen canvas texture that provides an effect that is very similar to genuine linen canvas. In 7 days will be framed in a modern black frame + white 5 cm passepartout, so the price is for the framed artwork. As soon as I have it framed, I will add some photos. It will be sent from Warsaw, Poland, EU where currently I am. "Women Described" has got the same paper size & type and is painted with the same red Scarlet color as "Enough is Enough" https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Enough-is-Enough/997281/6940313/view Both paintings will be soon framed in the same type of frames + passepartout.

Hi, I am Sylvia, I was born and raised in a small Polish city near the Polish-German border. In my art, I try to describe our times – with the main point on language, culture and woman issues - problems, identity, gender. To connect Words with concepts. Art offers an incredible opportunity to communicate -- using as few words as possible.- - with people of all languages and all backgrounds – we can interchange ideas, present certain points of view, transmit them one to another, and even without direct contact, we communicate. During my art studies (postgraduate) I took part in some open juried international art calls for artists. As a result, my first exhibitions were juried international ones. The one I’m especially proud of is 12th Global Biennale of Graphic Design Golden Bee, where the members of preselection online jury came from South Korea, Iran, Czech Republic, Switzerland, USA, Japan and Ukraine and the members of the main jury were from Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, Estonia, and the USA. My poster “Dante For Ever” got included in the final exhibition and printed catalog. This event had a huge impact on me, as I found out that my art, in this case, poster art can be understood by people of different cultural ties and backgrounds. After graduation I was supplementing my income by working as a translator in a press agency – that was a great experience that opened my eyes on global issues, and since that time, I try to follow (by internet) all the most interesting topics that will have global impact like e.ex elections in the US. I follow also some of the congressional hearings, as they are much more interesting than feature films ; - ) I hope one day I will visit the USA and the Capitol and watch Congress in session; -) I never know where the inspiration will come from; sometimes it is a short press article, or “breaking news”, sometimes it is a sentence, or an object or a place. That is why I reach for so many seemingly incompatible topics and themes while working with many different techniques. In my digital art, I only use the photos I made, including sometimes pieces of my previous artworks, that I destroyed for a number of different reasons.
