I also hope that the mask sparks curiosity about the history and cultural significance of African masks and their role in contemporary art. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? The medium, subject matter, and style were chosen to reflect the Bauhaus aesthetic and its emphasis on simplicity and functionalism. The mask was designed to be visually striking and recognizable as a traditional African mask, but also to incorporate the clean lines and geometric shapes characteristic of the Bauhaus style. By merging these two styles, the mask seeks to create a new and intriguing visual language that is both modern and steeped in tradition.
