Michael Deman, a creative soul with a life as diverse as the artistic tapestry he weaves, was born in 1948 to a unique blend of Hungarian and English heritage. His journey through life commenced at an early age when, at barely six months old, he embarked on a transformative voyage across the seas with his adventurous parents, who sought to embrace the enigmatic heart of Africa. The early years of Michael's life were marked by an itinerant existence, crisscrossing the landscapes of Southern and Central Africa. It was during this formative period that the seeds of curiosity and creativity were sown in his fertile imagination. His first formal steps into education were taken under the guidance of the Jesuits in the exotic setting of the Belgian Congo. On his maternal side, the artistic legacy ran deep. Michael's mother and maternal grandparents were all artists, with his grandfather, Leonard Studd, being a pupil of the renowned Slade School of Art under the tutelage of Sir William Rothenstein. This rich lineage of artistic heritage would later serve as a wellspring of inspiration for Michael's own creative endeavors. Now, at the age of 75, Michael Deman has embarked on a passionate exploration of the world of art. Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, he delves deep into his own psyche and life experiences. His artistic journey traverses the realms of technique, themes, and influences spanning centuries of artistry, from the mystic visions of Hieronymus Bosch to the timelessness of the Renaissance, the vibrant strokes of impressionism, the avant-garde expressions of modernism, and the surreal landscapes of the abstract. In his art, Michael weaves a biographical tapestry that invites viewers to glimpse into the vivid chapters of his life. Scenes from his personal odyssey unfold, from the carefree days of his childhood, where he earned the endearing nickname "Gecko" while skipping along the banks of the majestic Congo River, to his intrepid voyages through the rugged terrains of Afghanistan and Nepal. His canvases also bear witness to the trials and tribulations of surviving war zones during the harrowing Iran-Iraq conflict, interwoven with the myriad oddities and absurdities that life has thrown his way. For the past three decades, Michael has called Egypt his home.
