‘Blurry Volcano Joy’ is one of the pieces that up the Blurred Series, in which I captured multiple elements and objectives. The first was to find a faster and more minimalist method of producing digital derivations of my sketches. Almost by accident, I explored the graphic dimension of a blurred ph...

Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1973, he spent his childhood with his family in England and Central America, an experience that shaped his reflective and observant personality. During this period, he passively incorporated the idea of colour as a distinctive element of places and territories, cultures, animal and plant species, and the geography where they live. “Expressing myself artistically is as important to me as breathing, and from a very young age I have been self-taught in music, drawing, and literature.” During his architecture studies, he deepened his knowledge and exploration of the visual arts, incorporating photography and watercolour as tools for his projects, a period that coincided with the massification of personal computers and the internet. His profession allowed him to incorporate many digital tools into his visual language, and after a while it became natural to fuse analogue and digital media to produce art. During his university years, he learned many drawing techniques and styles, but he also discovered the works of several artists, among whom the important Chilean painter Mario Toral stands out, whose watercolours made a deep impression on him. During the same period, he had the opportunity to work for a summer as a draughtsman with the painter Oscar Gacitúa González, and it was an important coincidence to discover that he was a student of Toral and that they shared a preference for watercolours. Thanks to this friendship, he not only discovered new paths in music and literature, but also the subtle, versatile and fascinating world of watercolours. From then on, he put this growing passion and new knowledge into practice, but with the experimental energy that already characterised him, mixing different drawing techniques with watercolours, even incorporating literature into his first experiences with painting-poems. Everything beautiful in life inspires him, but mainly deep connections with nature, people, travel, and everything transcendental about good music, cinema, literature, architecture, sculpture, and painting. His ability to find the essential and conceptualise his ideas takes him down abstract, avant-garde and poetic paths. “I hope that my works achieve these virtues so that they inspire beyond aesthetic delight.” Currently, his main motivations are the creation of projects that fuse various artistic disciplines, mainly literature, music, drawing, and painting.
