Cantor fractals are a captivating element in the toolkit of artificial intelligence text-to-image software. The Cantor fractal represents an iterative process of dividing a line segment into smaller segments and removing the middle part. Repeated infinitely, it generates a sparse pattern resembling a musical score or lacework, revealing the profound beauty hidden in the simplicity of mathematical concepts. By harnessing the intricate geometry of Cantor fractals, AI algorithms gain the ability to generate detailed textures, complex structures, and captivating patterns. Mathematically speaking, the Cantor set is a set of points lying on a single line segment that has a number of unintuitive properties. It was discovered in 1874 by Henry John Stephen Smith and introduced by German mathematician Georg Cantor in 1883.

I am Luxembourg-born scientific illustrator and artist living in Hanover, Germany. For a couple of decades I was a copywriter for Honeywell Bull, Nokia and Siemens. Then I slowly slipped into computer graphics. I specialized in illustrating molecules and fullerenes for a long time. In 1988 I received a recognition of the Prix Ars Electronica for my graphic "Funnel". In 2023 I started doing AI illustrations. I live together with my partner Elke Leger, my favorite photo subject, and a turtle named George.
